TPL News publishes news, analysis, explainers, opinion, reviews and lifestyle content across politics, business, technology, health, culture and other areas of public interest.

This Editorial Policy explains the principles guiding our work.

Accuracy

We aim to publish information that is accurate, clearly presented and supported by reliable evidence.

Writers and editors should:

Verify important factual claims
Use authoritative or primary sources where reasonably available
Attribute information appropriately
Distinguish fact from opinion or prediction
Avoid misleading headlines
Represent statistics in context
Review time-sensitive information before publication

Absolute certainty is not always possible, particularly during developing events. When facts remain unclear, we aim to describe the uncertainty rather than present assumptions as established truth.

Sources

The reliability of a source depends on the subject.

Sources may include:

Official documents
Government publications
Legislation and regulatory guidance
Academic research
First-hand interviews
Company announcements
Established news organisations
Recognised professional bodies
Relevant experts

Anonymous sources should be used only where there is a legitimate reason to protect their identity and where the information can be assessed responsibly.

Press releases may provide useful information, but promotional claims should not automatically be treated as independently verified facts.

Fairness

People and organisations criticised in our reporting should be represented fairly.

Where a serious allegation is made about an identifiable person or organisation, we will normally seek an appropriate response before publication when reasonably practical.

Fairness does not require presenting unsupported claims as equivalent to established evidence.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made according to relevance, public interest, quality and reader value.

Advertisers, sponsors and commercial partners do not have the right to purchase favourable independent coverage or suppress legitimate criticism.

Any material commercial relationship connected to an article should be disclosed clearly where relevant.

Affiliate Links

Some articles may contain affiliate links. TPL News may receive a commission when a reader follows such a link and completes a qualifying purchase or action.

Affiliate relationships should not determine whether a product receives a favourable assessment.

Where relevant, an affiliate disclosure should appear prominently within the article.

Reviews

Reviews should reflect an honest assessment based on the information, experience or evidence available to the writer.

When a product, service, trip, ticket or sample was supplied without charge, that fact should be disclosed.

A commercial arrangement must not guarantee a positive review.

Opinion and Analysis

Opinion pieces express the interpretation or viewpoint of the identified author or publication.

Analysis may draw conclusions from reported facts but should distinguish those conclusions from verified information.

Opinion and analysis should not knowingly misrepresent evidence or individuals.

Politics

Political coverage should aim to describe policies, institutions and competing arguments accurately.

TPL News is not required to give identical space to every political claim. The weight given to a position may reflect its relevance, evidence and public significance.

Commentary should be labelled or written clearly enough that readers can recognise it as analysis or opinion.

Health Content

Health and well-being content is intended for general information.

It should not:

Diagnose individual readers
Guarantee treatment results
Encourage readers to stop prescribed treatment
Present unsupported remedies as established medicine
Replace professional medical care

Relevant articles should encourage readers to seek qualified help when symptoms are persistent, serious or urgent.

Financial and Legal Content

TPL News does not permit plagiarism.

Writers must not copy another publisher’s article, distinctive wording, images or research without permission or appropriate attribution.

Facts may be reported, but original expression remains protected by copyright.

Conflicts of Interest

Writers and editors should disclose financial, professional or personal interests that could reasonably affect their coverage.

Depending on the circumstances, the conflict may be disclosed to readers, managed internally or result in reassignment.

Privacy and Sensitivity

We consider the public interest before publishing private or sensitive personal information.

Public curiosity is not automatically the same as public interest.

Comments, guest submissions and other reader contributions may be moderated.

We may remove or reject material containing:

Threats
Harassment
Hate speech
Spam
Copyright infringement
Personal information
Deliberate misinformation
Unlawful content

Publication of a contribution does not mean TPL News endorses every view it contains.

Corrections

We correct material factual errors in accordance with our Corrections Policy.

Minor edits involving spelling, formatting or clarity may be made without a formal correction note when they do not change the substance of an article.
